Magic center Nikola Vucevic is quietly having another good season for Orlando, but he’ll have to put his year on pause after suffering a hand injury Saturday.
The Magic announced Vucevic is out indefinitely with a fractured first metacarpal in his left hand.
Vucevic went out in the Magic’s matchup with the Wizards during the first half. He went to the locker room for X-rays on his hand which revealed the bad news.
There is obviously no timetable on the 7-footer’s return, but he could be out anywhere between six and eight weeks.
Vucevic is averaging 17.8 points and 9.6 rebounds per game on the season. The 27-year-old has averaged at least 14.6 points and 8.9 rebounds per game each of the last five years.
Orlando had an 11-22 record coming into Saturday’s game. The Magic had lost eight of their last 10 as Aaron Gordon has also been dealing with injuries. Gordon missed two games due to a concussion and then another three with a calf issue.
