An important Big Ten matchup between No. 5 Wisconsin and No. 19 Michigan takes place this week, but the Badgers could be without a few key players.
Wisconsin starting center Tyler Biadasz, wide receivers Jazz Peavy and George Rushing, inside linebacker Chris Orr and tight end Luke Benzschawel were all listed on the injury report this week, according to ESPN.com.
Biadasz has helped lead Wisconsin’s vaunted running game by creating holes for star freshman Jonathan Taylor. Biadasz injured his left leg last week on a screen pass to Taylor, and sophomore Jason Erdmann replaced him in the lineup.
“I knew as an offensive lineman he would be able to block from center,” junior left tackle Michael Deiter said of Erdmann. “I just didn’t know if he was going to be as clean as he was with getting everyone else on the same page. He did a really good job of just directing traffic.”
The Badgers (10-0) are currently outside the playoff picture despite their undefeated record. They trail both Clemson and Oklahoma, both of whom have one loss.
Michigan (8-2) heads into the week a winner in four of its last five games. The Wolverines are currently second in the Big Ten East Division.
