The Broncos had no answers for the Patriots on Sunday night.

New England jumped out to an 18-point halftime lead and never looked back as it cruised to a 41-16 win in Denver. The Patriots tallied 396 yards of total offense and punted just once. New England excelled in the other areas of special teams, returning a kickoff for a touchdown and blocking a Denver punt.

Tom Brady threw for 266 yards and three touchdowns, while Dion Lewis added two total scores, including a 103-yard kickoff return, for New England. Emmanuel Sanders recorded six catches for 137 yards for Denver in the losing effort.

New England has now won five straight games since starting 2-2, while Denver has dropped five in a row to fall to 3-6.

FINAL: New England 41, Denver 16

11:30 p.m.: New England runs down the clock and it gives it back to the Broncos for one final play before the game goes final.

11:24 p.m.: New England gets the ball back after a punt. Brian Hoyer has replaced Brady at quarterback.

11:17 p.m.: Brady throws an incomplete pass on fourth down and Denver gets the ball back with 5:17 remaining.

11:11 p.m.: Turnover, Denver. Osweiler leads Denver to the Patriots’ 45 but is picked off by Patrick Chung, who returns it to Denver’s 32. The Patriots have a chance to add to their lead with 6:44 to play. 

11:01 p.m.: Touchdown, New England. The Patriots take advantage of Denver’s miscue and score on a 6-yard pass from Brady to White. Brady tallies 10 completions during the drive as the Patriots take a 41-16 lead with 9:04 remaining.

10:55 p.m.: Denver finally appears to get a stop as Brady throws a pass to James White on third down that loses 3 yards, but Denver has too many men on the field on the ensuing punt and is called for the penalty, giving the Patriots a first down. 

End of third quarter: New England 34, Denver 16

10:47 p.m.: An official is being carted off the field after a player is blocked into his legs.

10:41 p.m.: Denver advances near midfield but its drive stalls there. The Broncos punt it away to New England with 1:35 left in the third quarter.

10:34 p.m.: Touchdown, Patriots. Denver’s defense has no answers for New England. The Patriots march down the field and score on an 8-yard run by Dion Lewis to increase their lead to 34-16. The Broncos only had 10 defenders on the field when Lewis ran it in. 

10:32 p.m.: Patriots wide receiver Matthew Slater has left the game with an injury and will not return. 

10:23 p.m.: Touchdown, Denver. Osweiler caps a 13-play, 75-yard drive by connecting with Demaryius Thomas for a touchdown as the Broncos cut their deficit to 27-16. Denver’s drive ate up 7:06 of game time.

10:20 p.m.: Sanders with another catch. He hauls in a 23-yard pass from Osweiler on third down to move Denver inside the New England 10. 

10:12 p.m.: We’re back for the second half. Denver will start the period’s first possession at its 25 following a touchback.

Halftime: New England 27, Denver 9

9:59 p.m.: The Patriots lead by 18 at the half. Brady throws for two touchdown passes in the opening 30 minutes. New England also has a kickoff return touchdown and a blocked punt. Emmanuel Sanders already has 114 receiving yards for the Broncos.

9:54 p.m.: Touchdown, Patriots. New England strings together a nine-play, 75-yard drive that ends with an 11-yard Brady touchdown pass to Dwayne Allen with 25 seconds remaining before halftime. New England leads 27-9. 

9:40 p.m.: Field goal, Denver. The Broncos’ drive stalls just inside the red zone when Osweiler throws an incomplete pass and follows with a short completion. Brandon McManus adds his third field goal of the game, and Denver now trails 20-9 with 2:36 to play in the half.

9:34 p.m.: Emmanuel Sanders goes over the 100-yard mark halfway through the second quarter. This time, he catches a back-shoulder pass on third down to keep Denver’s drive alive. He has 105 yards. 

9:29 p.m.: Field goal, Patriots. James White takes a handoff on third down and is tackled just short of the marker. Gostkowski enters and adds his second short field goal of the game as New England’s advantage grows to 20-6 with 8:47 remaining in the half. 

9:20 p.m.: Denver has another special teams breakdown. The Broncos pick up a first down via a defensive holding penalty, but can’t pick up another. Riley Dixon enters and his punt is blocked. He falls on it and New England takes over on the Denver 30.

9:12 p.m.: Field goal, Patriots. Brady throws an incomplete pass on second-and-goal and he’s sacked one play later as Dever keeps the Patriots out of the end zone. Stephen Gostkowski enters and kicks a short field goal to put New England ahead 17-6.

End of first quarter: New England 14, Denver 6

9:05 p.m.: New England converts on one third-down play, but comes up inches short of moving the chains again. The Patriots line up and go for it, with Rex Burkhead picking up 3 yards for the first down. 

8:58 p.m.: Field goal, Denver. The Broncos once again move into Patriots territory after a long catch by Emmanuel Sanders, and C.J. Anderson follows with a 21-yard run. Osweiler, however, throws two straight incompletions in the red zone. Brandon McManus adds his second field goal of the game. Denver now trails 14-6.

8:56 p.m.: Dion Lewis’ kick return touchdown was the Patriots’ first in the regular season since 2012.

8:48 p.m.: Touchdown, Patriots. Dion Lewis fields the kickoff, finds a seam and bursts down the sideline for a 103-yard return to the end zone. New England leads 14-3.

8:45 p.m.: Field goal, Denver. The Broncos move into New England territory after two completions, totaling 44 yards, from Osweiler to Emmanuel Sanders. But Denver’s drive stalls there and it settles for a 39-yard field goal from Brandon McManus. The Patriots lead 7-3.

8:36 p.m.: Touchdown, New England. It takes just two plays for the Patriots to turn Denver’s mistake into a score. Brady finds Rex Burkhead on a slant for a 14-yard touchdown to put New England ahead 7-0.

8:34 p.m.: Tom Brady throws an incomplete pass on third down and the Patriots go three-and-out on their first drive. But Denver’s Isaiah McKenzie muffs the ensuing punt and New England recovers. It has the ball back inside the Denver 25 with a fresh set of downs.

8:31 p.m.: We’re underway in Denver. The Broncos win the toss and defer. New England will start the first drive of the game at its 25 following a touchback.

8:15 p.m.: Dion Lewis and Rob Gronkowski have some fun during warmups.

7:45 p.m.: The Patriots and Broncos have both announced their inactives.
