Danica Patrick announced before Sunday’s race she would retire from full-time racing moving forward. The penultimate NASCAR race of her career ended prematurely with 18 laps to go in Stage 2 of the Ford EcoBoost 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
Patrick appeared to lose control of her car as she collided with the outside wall, creating heavy damage and a small fire underneath her right-front. Running closely behind and unable to get out of the way, Kasey Kahne ended up driving into her bumper for the third caution flag of the day.
